Kenichi Shimazu Trio “Dream”
Kenichi Shimazu’s 9th work is a two-disc set by the trio, and all 20 songs recorded are Shimadzu’s original “offensive” contents. “Aggression” is not an experimental nuance, but an awareness of the problems faced by those involved in “foreign music = idioms” that look deep into the heart of the music artist. I think it’s a kind of “attack” that requires the determination as a human being to expose it to the sun with its own perspective. The two pieces are subtitled “Watama” and “Yutama”, respectively, and represent the sum of his views on the problem consciousness = harmony / calm / Japanese sentiment, and leap = exciting / jazz groove. It is a monument that embodies a productive reset of the 60th birthday.
